Just wanna point out that this was a collaborative art and musical project between Xan Griffin and Peter Mohrbacher. You can listen to Xan Griffin’s full Zodiac album on his youtube page. It’s really good music.
I get that you're young, but queer isn't a slur and don't reblog my damn posts with "q slur", please. My identity is not a slur. Thinking queer is a slur is ahistoric bullshit.
Lmfao what the fuck are you on?? Q*eer was originally used to refer to trans and sga people BY CISHETS to refer to us as abnormal and wrong. It’s a fucking slur. If you choose to use a slur as your only personal identifier then yes, your identity is a God damn slur. This is so disrespectful to every lgbt person with trauma surrounding that word, and you’re the one who’s being ahistorical. Asshole.
I’m on education that came from somewhere other than tumblr, my dude.
We’ve been calling ourselves queer since before WWII. It was not originally used “by cishets”. It was used by us. To describe us. Interchangeably with gay, which was used by all genders.
Ten years before you were born, Queer Nation was fighting for rights you now enjoy, marching in the streets. Queer Nation was founded by members of ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power), an organization for AIDS advocacy, because we were literally dying in the streets. Which is where die-ins came from, by the way - during the AIDS crisis when hospitals wouldn’t touch us with a ten foot pole, people protested by literally dying in a place inconvenient for the powers that be.
Whoever “taught” you that queer is a slur and always has been lied to you.
We’re still here, we’re still queer, go educate yourself.
If you can’t give me sources on q*eer being used by lgbt people BEFORE they reclaimed it from cishets using it as a slur i really don’t care what you have to say
Molly: new favorite, jesus christ, Taliesin came for my soul with “ostentatious
lavender
carnival barker tiefling.” i’m excited he’s the one playing the blood hunter because it would have been a little predictable for him to be a warlock and this is still ultragoth, as is appropriate for his brand. and i’m excited for his inevitably gut wrenching backstory when we find out why Taliesin named his new son after a type of albatross
Jester: other new favorite, god i love tieflings. she’s sweet and clever and also has hints of a very interesting relationship with her god. i’m always excited for clerics who are less pious angels and more on negotiating terms with the boss. she’s a little gullible for someone who cheats at card games but i’m fucking hype as hell for Laura to show off what she can do with a class that doesn’t suck
Fjord: i was disappointed at first to hear Travis was playing the big boy with the big sword, then he busted out that southern drawl and kindly suggested they return the money to the poor farmers and i loved him instantly. and that was even before we found out he was a fucking hexblade warlock. Travis Willingham is the new face of the party with his solid 18 charisma and i’m dying in anticipation
Beauregard: what a beautiful disaster lesbian, i’m glad Marisha knew the right way to play a monk was a drunk party girl who will punch you in the teeth and wants to be carried around by bigger girls. her entire backstory was sold to me in that single "i got my name because my family wanted a son!” line. she’s already a trans girl in my head, it’ll never change, thems the facts
Yasha: holy god crush me Ashley Johnson, i love your huge goth aasimar barbarian. she was dead cute with Molly as snarky best friends and even cuter with Beau as ‘what do i do with this girl who wants to jump my bones???’ being the guard for a traveling circus gives her a lot of good reasons to jump in and out of the story and as much as i love Ash, i’m glad she’s not playing a vitally important role like she was last campaign
Nott: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMM i don’t know about this one Sam, you’re gonna have to win me over here bro. but i hated Scanlan at first and he was great by the end so i’m willing to give him a chance with his goblin girl, and i definitely adore her character design so that’s on point at least. watching Sam try to play a character with fucking 5 charisma is going to be a trip
Caleb: probably the character i’m most indifferent to so far, sorry Liam. he just seems like a sad wizard and that’s fine but we just came off three years of the sad rogue so i need more details about this boy before i’m invested in him as a person. he’s got potential though because it’s very obvious he’s hiding about ten million things in the wings
obviously all of this is based on nothing but the very first episode and these are just first impressions so don’t jump up my ass about the two i’m not totally on board with because they can easily change over the course of a few weeks with a little more wear and tear
It’s been 5 months since I posted this, let’s revisit it because boy has shit changed.
Molly: I still love Molly’s character and man I’m super enchanted by the idea of a character who has amnesia and is fucking DESPERATE to not learn a goddamn thing about his past. I always enjoy a good hedonist character too and god knows he’s the biggest hedonist. There’s just one problem - his class fucking sucks. Hopefully getting into melee more will help with his new sword but god he’s been super useless in a lot of fights and he’s not going to get much better as he levels. I have concerns and I almost want Molly to die early just so it hurts less and Taliesin can reroll a second healer.
Jester: Like I said, I love a good hedonist and Jester’s fun. I fully believe the Traveler is Artagan but that’s honestly not the important part of her character. She’s weirdly light on backstory despite having been the most open about it. I don’t think being the sole healer was necessarily the best choice for Laura when she’d rather do damage, but that’s the entire party’s fault for going with this composition. God only knows what they’ll do when she’s on maternity leave.
Fjord: More like Vjord. He’s great, he’s a lying piece of shit, and he’s probably my actual favorite character now that we’re 20+ episodes in. I’m so glad Travis gets to show off his brains for a change and he’s clearly having fun playing a spellcaster. I have strong theories about his patron (I think it’s the Tharizdun-corrupted Kraken in the Shearing Channel specifically) but I’m ready for that to be a very long term mystery.
Beau: Still a disaster lesbian. I like her better than Keyleth, which is saying a lot because I fucking loved Keyleth. She’s emotionally the youngest member of the party and I like that it’s always the human in the group who is a reckless idiot convinced they’re immortal until they get pile-driven through the floor. Still want to know more about her backstory but nobody in the party has fucking asked her about it. Get with the picture, morons.
Yasha: Her friendship with Molly remains very cute and I think she’s got huge potential but right now she’s kind of riding low on my favorites list just because we haven’t seen enough of her. That’s nobody’s fault except for FUCKING BLINDSPOT. Unfortunately I think it’s going to be awhile before I have a lot to love about Yasha. Here’s hoping season 4 is the last one for Blindspot.
Nott: Warmed up to her with the revelation that she sees herself as the parent figure between her and Caleb. I was worried Sam was going to play her as a little kid who just doesn’t know any better, but nope. Nott is extremely aware of what she’s doing and also she’s a fucking asshole. It’s great. Not super into either her or Caleb’s habit of keeping things from the group but hopefully that’ll change over time.
Caleb: Jumped ahead of Yasha on my scale of characters I’m most indifferent to at least? Caleb’s backstory is basically just Black Widow’s but with more time spent in an asylum having a breakdown rather than being rescued. I don’t like his control freak habits and I don’t like the fandom’s habit of treating him like a poor baby who needs to be protected but what else is new. I DO strongly headcanon him as autistic despite Liam saying he hadn’t intentionally made him such. Death of the author bitch.
Hey! I liked the post you made about your first impressions of the critrole 2 PCs! Would you consider doing a follow-up post about your current thoughts? I think it'd be cool to see what changed and what stayed the same :D
